What is SubTsakalidis?
SubTsakalidis — “SubTsak,” if that’s too much — is a Substack centered about the Memphis Grizzlies. It will have some topics on the NBA, the draft, and free agency. Ultimately, everything will circle back to the Memphis Grizzlies. However you prefer to observe basketball — film, stats, columns, or the beauty of the game — SubTsak will have it all.
About me
I’m Parker Fleming, a Memphian that has had the Memphis Grizzlies as a huge part of my life since I was a kid. The passion started with going to games, and it spread to message boards, then social media, then writing. I began writing about the Grizzlies in 2016 for FanSided’s Beale Street Bears before moving to SB Nation’s Grizzly Bear Blues in 2018. In 5 years with GBB, I was their gameday media member for 4 seasons and served as Site Manager from the 2022 offseason to the end of the 2022-23 season. During that time, I also hosted The Core 4 Podcast, The Long View Podcast, and GBBLive.

My Why
The reasons for starting this Substack are very simple.
I want to give readers access to free Memphis Grizzlies content, while having any sort of support go to a good cause. For me, I’m choosing St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
My wife, Allie, received surgery for a brain tumor when she was 14 years old, and the doctors found it to be cancerous. She completed 33 rounds of radiation at St. Jude. Two years later, when she was 16, cancer returned in the form of a tumor — but with a more grim diagnosis. She had another surgery and another 33 rounds of brain and spine radiation. However, through God’s grace and the wonderful work of the doctors and researchers at St. Jude, she defied the statistics and experienced so many sweet milestones — graduating high school, graduating college, buying a house, landing her dream job, and marrying me.
Without the work of St. Jude, I wouldn’t have met my soulmate. So, I want to use this platform to raise money for St. Jude, so they can achieve their mission of saving children’s lives… just like they have done for Allie.
