Grizzlies trade up to 53rd to draft Cam Spencer

The Grizzlies move up to acquire Cam Spencer — the fiery, sharpshooter out of UConn

The Memphis Grizzlies made a trade in the draft — moving up from the 57th pick to the 53rd pick, per ESPN’s ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. With the pick, the Grizzlies picked Cam Spencer, a key starter in UConn’s national championship run.

Though undersized, Spencer is a fiery competitor that fights for 50/50 balls. He makes the right play offensively, boasting an impressive 3.5-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. He’s crafty off ball screens, and he’s a sharpshooter from 3. He’ll likely be on a two-way contract next season, but he has the skillset and mentality to compete right away if needed.

An awesome pickup with the 53rd pick. He’s a dawg.
